On the build side, the Microsoft Agent Framework — now stable for Python and .NET — merges Semantic Kernel's enterprise foundations with AutoGen's multi-agent orchestration, and adds an agent harness with skills, memory, and middleware. Microsoft cited integrations with the GitHub Copilot SDK and the Claude Agent SDK, multi-agent orchestration patterns, and new procedural memory in public preview, which it said yields "7-14% absolute success gains" by enabling agents to learn processes across sessions.

For deployment, Hosted Agents in Foundry Agent Service — a framework-agnostic production runtime for stateful and autonomous agents — is slated to reach general availability within 30 days. Microsoft also previewed long-running autonomous agents and scheduled "routines," publishing of agents into Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot, and "Autopilot" agents that operate independently with their own Entra Agent ID, email address, and Teams presence.

The incoming Agent-to-Agent (A2A) protocol, in public preview, is intended to enable collaboration across frameworks and organizations. The Operate layer adds tracing and evaluation

The common factor here is Intel 7 aka 10nm SuperFinFET+++++FINAL(final)(3) - this never really worked, 10nm was tough for everyone and TSMC actually skipped it. 10nm Super's failure was why Gelsinger embarked on the five nodes in four years death march in the first place.

Tuning runs in a managed Reinforcement Learning Environment (RLE) used both for post-training and inference. During training, the system learns from real workflows, tool usage, and eval signals without affecting production systems. At inference it explores multiple frontier and fine-tuned models, from Microsoft AI and OpenAI, across turns to find stronger candidate paths before returning an answer. The system improves continuously as it learns from each interaction....

nd today, Frontier Tuning is available in Private Preview through our Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) team. FDEs can partner with you end to end: defining the scenario, setting eval criteria, running the tuning process and delivering the agent, all within your environment.

At 200 gigabits per second, that distance drops to about two and a half meters, which is right at the limit given rack height and internal routing requirements. At 400 gigabits per second — where the industry is heading — copper can no longer fully connect within a rack...

The number of connections within a rack is approximately ten times the number of connections between racks. Fitting standard optical modules at that density is physically impossible, as there is not enough power or space.

CPO solves the problem by integrating the optical engines directly onto the switch or compute package, bringing fiber to the chip rather than to a front panel.

There's also no supervised finetuning, which he points out is absent in the animal kingdom (it's a subtle point but Sutton is right in the strong sense: animals may of course observe demonstrations, but their actions are not directly forced/"teleoperated" by other animals)....In Sutton's world view, all there is is an interaction with a world via reinforcement learning, where the reward functions are partially environment specific, but also intrinsically motivated, e.g. "fun", "curiosity", and related to the quality of the prediction in your world model. And the agent is always learning at test time by default, it's not trained once and then deployed thereafter. Overall, Sutton is a lot more interested in what we have common with the animal kingdom instead of what differentiates us. "If we understood a squirrel, we'd be almost done".

IBM watsonx Code assistant for Z (WCA4Z), used to accelerate mainframe application development and modernization with AI and automation, is equipped with an App Insights agent for application understanding - one of the primary focus areas of enterprise clients running mission critical workloads on IBM mainframe. This agent leverages deep static analysis across the application and stores a pre-indexed representation in a database schema that spans hundreds of interrelated tables with complex semantics, allowing the agent to retrieve precise, structured already available information; thereby improving answer accuracy, reducing token usage, and minimizing back-and-forth interactions with the language model (Mistral Medium 250B in this instance). This approach when applied to multiple mission-critical legacy systems (up to 1M lines of code and 1K programs) maintains marginally superior app understanding performance with ~30× lower token consumption than a baseline frontier LLM-only approach.

The engineering challenge is steep. TSVs connecting stacked logic layers can create cross-layer signal paths that are not necessarily shorter than 2D wiring inside a planar chip. Logic-on-logic stacking also worsens thermal conditions because heat from lower layers has fewer paths to dissipate.

An industry commentator familiar with semiconductor manufacturing noted that stacked architectures have long existed in MEMS, but controlling flatness alone can require extensive process tuning....

The trade-off is power. The Ascend 910C delivers 780 TFLOPS of BF16 compute, while Nvidia's GB200 reaches 2,500 TFLOPS. CloudMatrix 384 is estimated to consume 559kW, compared with 145kW for Nvidia's GB200 NVL72, leaving Nvidia roughly 2.3 times ahead in power efficiency per FLOP.

He was in serious discussions with Cadence and Synopsys to install design tools for fabless chip companies. The clean rooms were still there. The infrastructure was ready. The dream was specific: give hardware startups the physical and intellectual resources to build chips in the place where chips used to be made.

Then the iPhone happened. Then the App Store. Then the cloud.

"Suddenly the software took off, and mobile apps took off," he said, with a pragmatist's shrug. "I forgot about hardware and semiconductor. I went with where the market was going."

Eighteen years later, Amidi is sitting in that same building — now the global headquarters of Plug and Play, one of Silicon Valley's most prolific accelerators and venture firms — and the market has come back to him.

"What is exciting about Taiwan and TSMC and Foxconn," he said, "is that hardware is sexy again."

Veterans may use subtle cues — such as equipment vibration, changes in product color, and daily humidity — to fine-tune processes. Yet the reasoning behind those judgments is rarely documented.

That creates a major obstacle for AI, Cha said. Manufacturing data is often fragmented and inconsistent, with different vendors, machine generations, communication protocols, units, sampling cycles, and naming conventions coexisting within a single factory.

The high-value automation AI is expected to deliver — such as defect prediction, yield optimization, and anomaly detection — is concentrated in that tacit knowledge. If companies train AI only on existing standardized information, they may automate only parts of the process and fail to capture manufacturing's core value.

This may be a facile example but the seaside donkey code of best practice
limits passengers to 51kg. Even with saddle and harness we have a 200-

health and safety gone mad? No: in the early 1900s, New Zealand loggers limited mule and pony loads to 58kg...

lions, contrary to Victorian opinion, aren’t brave or noble; they are fat lazy creatures that lie around all day licking themselves. They only rouse themselves to eat the best bits of the hunt, mount one of the lionesses or to do some noisy lion infighting. They get others to do the dirty work and they have a penchant
for infanticide. We are not saying our. commanders are fat lazy child killers, far from it, but it has reached a point where their headquarters are.

A memory industry source said Nvidia had previously indicated that Rubin CPX would adopt GDDR7, but discussions around the project have effectively disappeared. The source added that while there had been speculation about a possible shift to high-bandwidth memory, or HBM, no meaningful progress has emerged, leaving the product's development direction unclear.

A substrate industry source said the lack of activity has led many in the industry to regard Rubin CPX as effectively canceled.

SK Hynix management, however, does not view the proposals as a practical option.

The main concern is that building production lines with money from specific Big Tech customers could create contract structures resembling exclusive supply arrangements...

various ideas are being discussed to strengthen the binding force of long-term supply agreements with global technology companies. Industry observers expect those terms to include higher prepayments, contracts lasting more than five years, and price-floor provisions.

The strategy would allow SK Hynix to turn customer funding into stronger commercial terms rather than giving customers a stake in production assets....

Such agreements are said to include upfront payments of around 10% to 30% of total contract value, which chipmakers could use to fund capital expenditure.

Executives familiar with the supply chain said companies, including Google and Amazon Web Services (AWS), are already pushing to accelerate ASIC orders for 2026, but are running into severe capacity constraints. The most crowded bottleneck, they say, is at the 3nm manufacturing node.

Several smartphone chipmakers have opted to move directly to 2nm production partly to avoid competition for scarce 3nm capacity. At a recent shareholder meeting, the chairman of Alchip Technologies remarked that 3nm availability had become "even tighter than memory."...

The easing may not come solely from TSMC. Executives say interest is also rising in advanced packaging technologies from Intel, particularly its EMIB packaging platform...

Many in the industry now believe cloud ASICs could eventually grow faster than the GPU market itself, giving custom AI chips an increasingly central role in the global AI computing ecosystem....

One supply-chain estimate suggests that a new 2nm AI chip project planned by MediaTek for 2028 could nearly double shipment volumes, assuming sufficient manufacturing capacity is available.

Kean’s wife hasn’t been spotted walking the family dog. No one could remember the last time her car was parked in the driveway. A single gardening glove was left on the front lawn this past weekend....

Then his wife, Rhonda Kean, appeared. I approached her Tuesday morning as she unpacked the trunk of her blue Land Rover Defender. She had returned home just in time for trash pickup day. Asked about the status of her husband, she winced and replied, “No comment.” Mrs. Kean was soon joined by a friend and quickly ushered inside...

During that time, NOTUS discovered that Kean had kept trading stocks; he submitted financial transaction reports to Congress, digitally signed on April 13, that indicated he bought and sold shares of eight stocks from mid- to late March with a combined value of between $50,008 and $190,000.

Revenue fell 11% sequentially and 60% year on year, weighed down by delayed tape-outs and slower-than-expected volume production ramps.

Yet profitability held up better than investors expected. A larger contribution from higher-margin non-recurring engineering, or NRE, services pushed gross margins to 50%, while operating margins reached 32.7%.

Industry executives expect revenue to recover beginning in the second quarter of 2026 as automotive ASIC programs expand and Trainium 3 production ramps up. Even so, much of the company's 2026 revenue is expected to be concentrated in the second half of the year as production scales gradually.

Supply-chain estimates suggest Trainium 3 could ultimately ship as many as two million units over its roughly two-year product cycle

Under the new pricing structure, cached input tokens cost CNY0.025 (US$0.0037) per million tokens, uncached input tokens cost CNY3 per million tokens, and output tokens cost CNY6 per million tokens...

DeepSeek reportedly did not specify whether the lower prices were linked to improved supply of Huawei Ascend 950 AI chips, which are used to optimize the V4-Pro model.

When DeepSeek launched the V4 series in April, the company said the Pro version costs up to 12x more than the lighter Flash model because of constraints in high-end compute capacity. At the time, DeepSeek also indicated that pricing would likely decline as Huawei Ascend 950 supernodes became available at scale in the second half of the year.
