> AI trained to classify skin lesions as potentially cancerous learns that lesions photographed next to a ruler are more likely to be malignant.

> Agent pauses the game indefinitely to avoid losing

> A robotic arm trained to slide a block to a target position on a table achieves the goal by moving the table itself.

> Evolved player makes invalid moves far away in the board, causing opponent players to run out of memory and crash

> Genetic algorithm for image classification evolves timing attack to infer image labels based on hard drive storage location

> Deep learning model to detect pneumonia in chest x-rays works out which x-ray machine was used to take the picture; that, in turn, is predictive of whether the image contains signs of pneumonia, because certain x-ray machines (and hospital sites) are used for sicker patients.

> Creatures bred for speed grow really tall and generate high velocities by falling over

> Neural nets evolved to classify edible and poisonous mushrooms took advantage of the data being presented in alternating order, and didn't actually learn any features of the input images

In our increasingly connected culture where experiences can be shared instantly and you can live through a million little vignettes vicariously every day. So we're starting to develop a new definition of "quality" that determines the worthwhile-ness of an endeavor. It seems to be a combination of A) who you did it with and B) how much effort you put into it. I don't think that's at all a bad thing. Even if it's fake it's real! The only gotcha is C) it must be photogenic/capturable/shareable. Ephemeral experiences that don't lend themselves to being photographed seem to be increasingly left by the wayside.

An interesting system for marking your epistemic belief state when creating a blog post. I like the idea of it: keep old artifacts around while accurately portraying your current belief system. Write a factually incorrect blog post, mark it as "not believed" when you revisit it. Write about your predictions for the next presidential election? Mark it as "speculation".

I can see two issues with it, though:
1. Visitors will trust that the marked epistemic state is up-to-date, when it could be just as out of date as the blog post itself. There's no guarantee that you will continually update your epistemic state. I'd even argue that this isn't necessary. Even if visitors land on your blog post from a google search with no additional knowledge, it's up to them to find the posted date and decide how they feel about it/your blog/you.

2. If you pin down your epistemic state too early it creates a constraint on what you can write/add to the blog post. If you have something marked as a "log" or "fiction" then you don't want to mix it up with opinions or factual information because it will muddy the purity of your stated epistemic state. Maybe that's just my OCD talking.

The Delphi method is a structured communication technique, originally developed as a systematic, interactive forecasting method which relies on a panel of experts.

In the standard version, the experts answer questionnaires in two or more rounds. After each round, a facilitator provides an anonymous summary of the experts’ forecasts from the previous round as well as the reasons they provided for their judgments. Thus, experts are encouraged to revise their earlier answers in light of the replies of other members of their panel. It is believed that during this process the range of the answers will decrease and the group will converge towards the "correct" answer. Finally, the process is stopped after a pre-defined stop criterion (e.g. number of rounds, achievement of consensus, stability of results) and the mean or median scores of the final rounds determine the results.

* A comprehensive library of the ATP test problems that are available today, in order to provide an overview and a simple, unambiguous reference mechanism.
* A comprehensive list of references and other interesting information for each problem.
* Arbitrary size instances of generic problems (e.g., the N-queens problem).
* A utility to convert the problems to existing ATP systems' formats.
* General guidelines outlining the requirements for ATP system evaluation.
* Standards for input and output for ATP systems.

The principal motivation for the TPTP is to support the testing and evaluation of ATP systems, to help ensure that performance results accurately reflect capabilities of the ATP systems being considered. A common library of problems is necessary for meaningful system evaluations, meaningful system comparisons, repeatability of testing, and the production of statistically significant results.
