But that solution did not resolve the issue permanently. It came back very soon. And apparently thousands of people are having this issue – probably due to an unchecked regression in Apple’s code. While the annoyance continues, I have found a quick fix that, though temporary, is a viable and reliable workaround.
I go to the network icon on the menu bar, and choose a neighbor’s locked wireless.

Note you can either click on “Join Other Network” or just pick one from the list. Then when that router asks for a password, I enter a few letters till the “Join” button lights up."

"After upgrading to Lion I noticed that the Homebrew theme that I’ve been using since Snow Leopard doesn’t display colors correctly(using different colors for directories, different types of files etc.) any more when working on remote hosts via ssh (local dir colors still work though) and switching to other themes doesn’t help. After messing around with the Terminal settings I finally found the cause and a solution. It seems Lion changed the terminal type to xterm-color256 during the upgrade (don’t remember what the setting was in SL though). The solution is simple enough, just change the emulation type for terminal from xterm-color256 to xterm-color (see screenshot below)."

While most other tools doing this split automatically according to certain criteria, AudioSlicer shows you all silences within a certain range of duration. The splitting is done without loss, there is no decoding and re-encoding of audio data taking place."

Now go to the Conversions menu and export the key as an OpenSSH key – hey presto – you now have a key file that will work on your Mac! Such a simple solution, yet that took me so long to figure out … Anyway, now you just need to copy your new .ssh keyfile over to your home (~) directory on your Mac and set the permissions to 700 (chmod 700 yourkey.ssh)."

With no TRIM utility, poor 512-byte aligned performance and clear degradation over time with heavy random writes, the C300 is best used with Windows 7 and its native TRIM support. Luckily for Crucial, there are a lot of Windows 7 users out there. Update: Version 2.6.33 of the Linux kernel supports TRIM as well. Presumably the C300 would do just as well under Linux so long as there's TRIM support. I often get questions from Mac users asking what the best SSD is for OS X. Since Apple still won’t support TRIM you need a very resilient drive under OS X. That path leads you to SandForce. Pick up a Corsair Force, OCZ Vertex 2, G.Skill Phoenix or whatever SF drive tickles your fancy if you want the best of the best in your Mac."

"Anyone who tells you with absolute certainty which operating system is “the best” without knowing your individual needs is probably going to be wrong – and I include myself in this. The right choice for you may be Linux, or it may be Mac, or it may be Windows. Choosing is a complex dance between hardware needs, price, aesthetic preferences, application requirements, technical competence, and even “what my friends use”. I think the best piece of advice that I can give, though, is this: if you are considering switching platform, don’t expect “the other side” to be the land of milk and honey forever. Every computing platform has its pros and cons, and once the honeymoon period is over, you’ll run into them."
