No boring repetitive exercises. Unlike most other typing tutors, this application does not force you to repeat the same lessons like ‘jjf jjk jjf jjk’ over and over again. This is very annoying and contributes very little to your overall learning.

This application uses a sophisticated computer algorithm to generate typing lessons that match your skill level. These lessons consist of random words generated using a subset of the full alphabet of letters. The size of the subset and individual letter frequency is controlled by the algorithm, which provides you with the best learning experience.

We have tons of data that needs to be exported only the first 1000 lines in a text file. This process needs to be automated and with less human intervention. Doing all repetitive tasks by writing code is what separates programmers from the non-programmers.

The Solution
As mentioned, the solution is to automate BCP as much as possible, and as the title belies, I am using my automation tool of choice: PowerShell. Like a lot of tasks you want to automate, this solution is not 100% automated.

This is an extremely short post to say that at the time I didn’t make it open source, but I am making it open source now. It’s not a lot of code but maybe it’ll be interesting to someone.

Here’s the github repo. The frontend is in static/ and the backend is in api/. The README is mostly an extended apology for the developer experience and note that the project is unmaintained. But I did test that the build instructions work!
