    <dc:creator>andrewn</dc:creator><description><![CDATA[<blockquote>The hypercubes, a project by composer Mateo Mena, consists in the construction of a new electronic musical instrument, integrated by various acrylic resin cubes with electronic circuits on the inside. This cubes can be connected between them according to the needs of the musician, based on the complexity of the sound that he wants to create. Without any need of cables, but neodimium magnets, The Hypercubes are linked together. This magnets are used in a double purpose: to generate magnetic field amongst the cubes, so they don't shift once you link one to another, and to conduct electricity and therefore close the circuit enabling the current flow. Each cube measures 5x5x5 cm, so its size fits the hand allowing them to be easy to handle, to connect and to play music with them. As the cubes are made of transparent acrylic resin, the circuits in the inside are always visible, and the fact that those are simple circuits can encourage people to understand what's happening inside there, and eventually to create their own circuits. It's important to mention here that this is an open-source project, so anyone can access to the circuit diagrams, and modify or improve them. There are 22 different cubes (from #1: 9V battery, to #4c: Sawtooth Voltage Controlled Oscillator, #10: 10 step sequencer, or #20: Audio amplifier, to name just a few)</blockquote>]]></description>
